French toast
Easy, breezy holiday breakfast recipe that suits for young and old taste buds. Nothing screams comfort breakfast like a french toast.
The bread slices are soaked in a egg mixture and then toasted in butter. This is one of my families go to recipes for a lazy and quick breakfast. Its nutritious and easy to make. French Toast serves as a good alternative for pancakes. This recipe works well for soft white breads as well.
Ingredients Required:
Bread slices | 4-5 slices |
Eggs | 2 medium |
Milk | 2 tbsp. |
Sugar | 4 tsp (as needed) |
Salt | a pinch |
Butter or Vegetable oil | to toast |
vanilla extract | 1/2 tsp (optional) |
or | |
Cinnamon powder | 1/2 tsp (optional) |
Directions
1. In a wide bowl or a shallow plate, add eggs, sugar, milk, salt and beat the mixture well using a fork until sugars are dissolved.
2. This is the point where you can give your twist to the toast by adding your own flavors. Some of the flavors which I like are vanilla and cinnamon.
3. Heat a skillet with butter or veg oil. Take a slice of bread , dip both the sides of the bread in the mixture real quick (do not leave the bread in the mixture for more than 2 seconds) and toast both the sides on a skillet.
Tips
• If your toast is not soft as you expected, then add some milk in additions of teaspoons.
• On the other hand, if your toast is too soft and mushy reduce the amount of milk.
• If your using stale bread or hard bread slices add 1 tsp of milk extra for every 2 slices of bread. This will enable the bread to absorb the mixture and will give a soft cake like toast.
