Easy and simple rava upma

Looking for a Healthy but simple to cook meal? Then this recipe of savory semolina/rava upma is a quick and nourishing source of energy.

It’s a South Indian breakfast which is accompanied with any sides like chutneys, curries and even pickles. One can make this dish a head and eat even for lunch. Kids will love this dish with just sugar. which will make the adults fall in love with. This is the best go to meal for a light dinner as well.

Ingredients Required:

Rava or Sooji or Semolina 1 cup
Water 2 cups
Onion, sliced 1 Medium sized
Cinnamon stick 1 inch
Cloves 2-4
Garlic cloves 2 big
Mustard 1 tsp
Oil 2 Tbsp
Salt To taste


1. Heat oil in a pan

2. Add cinnamon, cloves, and mustard. Let the mustard splutter.

3. Add garlic cloves, sliced onion and saute them for a minute till onions become translucent.

4. Add 2 cups of water & salt and bring it to boil.

5. Simmer the stove then add 1 cup of rava slowly and keep mixing without lumps. Keep in simmer until a slight layer is formed at the bottom.
